...were fun. We have a habit of running into our friends from Louisville in random parts of the country. We ran into Ben Sollee on the streets of Bloomington, IN last year, where we were both playing shows on the same night. Matt Yarborough, who plays the baddest trombone in Louisville, met up with us in Charlotte, NC last month and sat in during our set. This past weekend in Boston, Funk Out honcho Curtis Lewman happened to be in town, and we jammed some tunes with him at the Lizard Lounge. The 'Ville is taking over the world!
Playing with Charlie Hunter's trio with Albany was a blast. Frankly, It was amazing just to be there and watch him play. Charlie sounds better and better every time I see him. He's always sounded fantastic, don't get me wrong, but he's also a cat that's constantly striving for improvement, and it shows. The whole band was killing it, and they're some of the nicest guys you'll meet. Charlie was on a tight schedule and had to bolt after the show, but chilling and talking shop with drummer Tony Mason and keyboardist Erik Deutsch was great. Both of those guys are monsters. Check them out for sure if they come to your area.
