More Bad Luck, But Also Progress

Remember how I said the heat in the van didn't work? Turns out the radiator was shot. We found this out on Sunday afternoon, and naturally nobody could fix it until Monday. So, with no hope of making it to NYC by Monday night, we were forced to cancel yet another gig. All was not lost, though. Since we were stuck in Columbus, we decided to try and create an opportunity by seeing if we could scare up a local gig. After making a couple phone calls and explaining our situation, we got a chance to break out our equipment and jam for an hour or so at a local blues spot in Columbus called the Thirsty Ear. No pay or anything, but it was nice to finally be able to play some music in front of an audience on what was supposed the third day of our tour. I really hope that we can make a return trip soon and make up for those missed shows in Boston and NYC.

With the van fixed (for the second time), we were finally able to make some progress. Most importantly, we finally got out of Ohio. We drove to Evan's mother's house in upstate New York, which was our original destination when we departed Louisville on Friday. Funnily enough, we arrived just in time to enjoy a day off (as if we hadn't had enough of those so far). With no scheduled gig for Tuesday, we just hung out, did some practicing, and enjoyed some great home cooking by Evan's mom. Barring any further misfortune, we should be rocking out in Burlington, VT tonight.
