Northeast tour, Day 8

Sorry for the lack of updates, but internet access can be tough to come by on the road. At this point, we're on our way to New York City to play our fourth show with Club d'Elf at Crash Mansion.

The Burlington and Portland shows were both fun, and gave me the chance to see some old friends and family. We did a TV spot on the local NBC affiliate before the Portland show, which was really neat for me, because local television is part of your culture when you grow up, especially when you grow up in a small town. It probably meant nothing to the other guys in the band, but I thought it was cool to see news anchor Pat Callaghan and sports reporter Bruce Glaser coming out of the studio as were going in, since our show was taped in the same studio used for the news broadcast. I've seen those guys on television as long as I can remember. Of course, our eight to ten minute tunes aren't exactly tailor-made for television appearances either. They wanted us to play two songs, each under three minutes in length. We were also limited by studio space, which meant we wouldn't be able to use the whole the band. So it was a little restrictive, but you have to be flexible in this business. It was a good experience nonetheless, and we appreciate the 207 show for having us. Video of our performance and interview is available on the website, and you can click here to get directly to it.

Last night's show in Albany at Red Square was, in my opinion, the best show of the tour so far. Considering the upcoming holiday weekend, we had a solid turnout. The management at Red Square were surprised at the number of people we were able to bring out, as they're usually closed for the week leading up to the fourth of July due to lack of business. Even though we had been hoping for more people, it's good to know that we were successful under the circumstances. This was Evan's hometown gig, just like the Portland one was for me, so he was able to see his family and friends, which I'm sure was nice for him. The room sounded great as well, so we're looking forward to returning to Red Square in the future.

That's about it for now. NYC and Philly still to go.
