This year's Detroit Jazz Festival will be giving jazz fans in the Motor City one hell of a show over Labor Day weekend. The line-up includes: Herbie Hancock, Regina Carter (in multiple performances), Dave Brubeck, Medeski Scofield Martin and Wood, Kenny Garrett, Poncho Sanchez, and Kenny Barron (in multiple performances). Whew. And I even left a few big names off of that list. The best part? The festival is completely free. No tickets necessary. I never thought I'd say this, but I really wish I lived in Detroit.
