We had an awesome time performing last night for Forecastle. The rain was a nuisance, but, thankfully, it didn't stop an enthusiastic crowd from coming out and having a good time. There seemed to be a healthy turn-out at the Festival, perhaps less than what was expected, but definitely above average, considering the weather. The rain let up just in time for hip-hop legends De La Soul to kill it on the main stage. These guys have been at it since rap first started hitting the radio in the 80s, and they still make most hip-hop artists of today sound like amateurs. The downpour picked back up after their set, but again, with perfect timing, petered out in time for us to throw down a late-night set.
Of course, no gig is ever perfect. The story at this show was that the stage at the Main Street Lounge lost power in the middle of our set. As a performer, this is right up there as one of the more incredible buzz kills that can happen on stage, especially when you're really peaking in the middle of a song. C'est la vie, as they say. Luckily, Myron and Evan, the only two guys with the ability to keep playing acoustically, kept the party going without missing a beat while the power situation got sorted out. The setlist:
7/27/07 at the Main Street Lounge (Louisville, KY) Forecastle Festival after-party
One Set:
Blowin' Up
My Hands Wave Goodbye-->
Myron/Evan sax and drums duel (during power outage)-->
